Sticks ānā Sushi secure two further sites in west London
23 June 2023
Sticks’n’Sushi continue their measured growth with the announcement of two further openings, the first set to open in Kingston upon Thames this October, followed by Richmond in early 2024.
Aiming to replicate the success of their first UK restaurant in Wimbledon, now 11 years established, the Danish-Japanese restaurant group have revisited their residential roots with these new openings, offering southwest London locals and visitors to the royal borough an opportunity to experience the well-loved Japanese fare for which the group is famed.
Kingston
Kingston will be their biggest restaurant to date, set over two floors with a large external terrace, located on the corner of Wood Street and Clarence Street in the historic Bentall Centre.
Curated in collaboration with longstanding partners Diener & Diener, the 220-cover restaurant will capture a perfect balance between Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian elegance, with soft hanging partitions, natural furnishings, and warm, earthy tones - individual in design yet unmistakably a Sticks’n’Sushi restaurant. The installation of a modern Kimono interpretation will hang on one of the ground floor walls, echoing the intricacy of the dishes which will be served.
The two-storey building boasts an abundance of natural light and creates an atmosphere that is as sophisticated and welcoming as the service, embodying the renowned Japanese concept of ‘Omotenashi’ - to wholeheartedly look after each and every guest.
A private dining room, naturally sectioned off from the spacious main restaurant, provides an intimate setting for guests to enjoy gatherings, celebrations, and business meetings, ensuring every occasion is elevated to an unforgettable dining experience.
The menu at Sticks’n’Sushi Kingston will continue to serve guest favourites such as the ‘Sushi Sister’ sashimi sharing menu and ‘Ebi Bites’, offering their unique combination of traditional sushi, salads and grilled yakitori sticks. The food menu is complemented with an extensive drinks list, including cocktails, warming sake, and a varied list of delicate Japanese teas.
Andreas Karlsson, Group CEO, says about the openings “We have had South West London on our wish list of locations ever since our first opening in Wimbledon during the year of the summer Olympics. It brings us great joy to announce that we will be opening these new restaurants in two landmark buildings located at the heart of their neighbourhoods. South West London is an area close to our heart and origins, we are eagerly awaiting for the opportunity to welcome new and loyal guests to enjoy the Sticks'n'Sushi experience.”
Richmond
Following hot on the heels of the Kingston restaurant, Sticks’n’Sushi are excited to expand their South West London offering further, as they announce the opening of their thirteenth UK restaurant, this time in Richmond. Having been actively searching for appropriate space in Richmond for some time, Sticks’n’Sushi are thrilled to be opening on the bustling corner of George Street and King Street in the middle of the town, the restaurant will sit at ground floor level with easy accessibility for residents and visitors alike.
