Crowne Plaza London- Albert Embankment has today announced the appointment of James Doyle as its new general manager, effective immediately.

Doyle, a hotelier with 25 years of UK experience, joins the 142-bedroom hotel from Crowne Plaza Newcastle- Stephenson Quarter, where he has held the role of general manager for the last two years. During this time, he also sat on the board of directors for Newcastle Gateshead Initiative, helping to put Newcastle Gateshead on the national and international stage.

Originally from Hayling Island, near Portsmouth, Doyle has enjoyed an extensive 22-year career with IHG with various roles across London under both the Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza brands. Starting as restaurant and bar manager at Crowne Plaza Heathrow in 1997, Doyle has risen though the ranks through tenures at Holiday Inn Ealing, Holiday Inn Regents Park, Holiday Inn Brent Cross, Crowne Plaza London the City, Holiday Inn Whitechapel and Crowne Plaza Newcastle. In 2014, Holiday Inn Whitechapel was awarded European Holiday Inn of the Year, with Doyle at the helm as general manager having taken the property through pre-opening and a successful launch campaign.

Doyle said he was delighted to return to London, a city he knows well from his previous roles.

‘I am excited to be returning to London and joining the team at Crowne Plaza London- Albert Embankment. This recently opened property enjoys one of London’s most enviable locations overlooking the River Thames, and I look forward to working with the team to further establish the hotel and cement its reputation as one of south London’s most sought-after hotels.’
