Green light for new Rotherham hotel

02 September 2019

Rothgen Ltd plans for a new hotel with a ground floor restaurant to be built on the site of derelict buildings in Rotherham have received planning permission.

The site on Corporation Street is currently occupied by a pair of derelict, fire-damaged buildings. A former restaurant is located on the northern part of the site and a two-storey building that was previously used as a nightclub at first floor and tearooms on the ground floor on the southern section.

The proposal covers demolition of the existing buildings and construction of a new four-storey, 69-bedroom hotel with a ground floor restaurant and bar, meeting rooms and a standalone retail unit. The plans have been designed by Den Architecture.

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council's Planning Board voted to grant consent for the scheme at a meeting last week (29 August), after the plans were recommended for approval.
