Details of proposed hotel development in Liverpool revealed

Developer Elliot Group has revealed details of the proposed new hotel that it hopes will replace a 142-bed apartment block on its consented Aura scheme in Liverpool.

The plans for the scheme on the northern boundary of the city’s Knowledge Quarter were announced last month in response to continued high demand for hotel accommodation in the city and a planning application has since been submitted.

“Paddington Village and the new hospital are driving demand for accommodation in this part of the city so the moves makes absolute strategic sense,” said Elliot Lawless of Elliot Group.

The Liverpool studio of Falconer Chester Hall has designed the 278-room property facing the current Royal Liverpool Hospital, and says its target date for determination by the planning authority is mid- to late-November.

The Aura scheme is currently on site, with Liverpool-based contractor Vermont delivering more than 1,000 new student beds over two blocks. The gross development value of the project will be £100m when complete.

Paddington Village is a £1bn extension to Liverpool’s knowledge quarter promoted by the city council and has already secured a 4-star Novotel as its anchor hotel.

Work is also progressing on a number of other developments on the site, including the new northern base for the Royal College of Physicians and the Rutherford Cancer Centre.

Zerum Consult is advising Elliot Group on the planning application.
